Making the Right Travel Choices

Airport Info

DFW Airport (code DFW) is the primary airport serving the Dallas metroplex. It is located between Dallas to the east and Fort Worth to the west. It is the home of American Airlines.

If you choose to fly Southwest Airlines, your airport will be Dallas Love Field (DAL). Take note: Southwest Airlines doesn’t fly out of DFW, but other regional airlines – including American Eagle and Delta Connection – use Dallas Love Field.

Take note of this when making your flight and rental car arrangements.

About the Venues

The funeral service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, located at 4300 W. Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093. Plano is located just north of Dallas, about 30 minutes from both airports. Click here for directions to the church.

The reception will take place much closer to DFW Airport, at the Irving Event Center, located at 535 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062. Click for directions.

Finding a Hotel

If you will be picking up a rental car, find hotels near DFW Airport and Love Field Airport. You will more than likely find great deals from the popular booking sites, especially since the Dallas Cowboys don’t have a home game that weekend. Check the following sites: Trivago.com, Booking.com, Expedia.com, and Hotels.com.

If you plan to visit any of Mama’s daughters, find a hotel around the Plano/Frisco Stonebriar Mall area. You will have tons to choose from, especially if you use Hotwire.com.

Driving Around Town

The Dallas Metroplex is big, as in BIG. All parts of town are well connected by a highway and tollway network. The toll roads would get you anywhere much faster, so budget for that.

Driving around town, remember that if you are driving at the posted speed limit, you may be driving too slow. But while driving around, remember to turn on Google Maps or Waze for speed traps. And beware of school zones – 20 mph means 20 mph, no messing around.
